Mayur Puri

Storyteller, Screenwriter, Lyricist & Filmmaker (Om Shanti Om, ABCD)

Mayur Puri has donned many hats over his decade long Bollywood career as director, film writer, lyricist and actor, but he primarily is and always remain a passionate story teller at heart – a role he’d never grow out of. He is the apt example of the small town boy from Ahmedabad, who made it big in Bollywood through sheer conviction and hard work. He is the man chosen by big ticket studios like Disney and Warner Brothers to recreate their billion dollar cinematic experiences into regional translations better suited for the Hindi speaking Indian audience. If you’ve still not seen the Avengers – End Game in Hindi, you’ve missed out on a fun ride, my friend! The list of his films in the translation domain is endless.

Talking about mainstream Bollywood, Mayur has written the cult favourite Om Shanti Om, India’s 1st 3D Dance Film – ABCD 1 and its sequel ABCD 2. His other notable films include Happy New Year, F.A.L.T.U, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Blue, Prince and My Name is Anthony Gonsalves. Mayur recently won the Los Angeles Film Award (2017) – Best Fantasy Film for his directorial short film Firdaws. As a Film Writer and Lyricist, Mayur has worked with the crème de la crème of the film fraternity. ‘Love Mera Hit Hit’, Saree Ke Fall Sa and ‘Dil Garden Garden’ are popular songs written by Mayur.

Mayur has taken the role of a coach and mentor for over 7000+ aspiring students of various age groups so far. He actively runs a quarterly program Screen Writing Bootcamp with Mayur Puri in association with Anupam Kher’s acting school – Actor Prepares. Mayur also undertakes Corporate Workshops for Middle and Upper Management, the sessions usually focus on creating ‘Brand Ambassadors through Broadcast and Social Media Content’ and ‘Decoding Creativity at Workplace.’

Apart from teaching and workshops, Mayur is the founder of ‘Story Circus’ – an institute dedicated to story‐telling for children. Mayur is currently gearing up for his directorial debut.
